    When you create a new document, track changes need not be active, however, if it is active, you can turn it off by following the steps below:

    Open a new Word document.

    Click on the "Review" tab in the ribbon at the top of the screen.

    Click on the "Track Changes" drop-down menu.

    Select "Change Tracking Options" from the menu.

  • In the "Track Changes Options" dialog box, select the "Advanced" tab. Under "Markup," uncheck the box next to "Track Moves."

    Under "Formatting," uncheck the box next to "Track Formatting."

    Under the "Inserted," "Deleted," and "Changed" sections, select the "None" option for each.

    Click "OK" to save the changes.
